Position Overview
The Applications Engineer supports the design, evaluation, and implementation of ROCHEM®Americas' advanced membrane water and wastewater treatment systems. Working alongside experienced engineers, this role assists with process design, system sizing, technical proposals, engineering documentation, and customer support for a wide range of industrial and municipal treatment applications.
This position offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience with advanced reverse osmosis and membrane technologies while developing practical engineering skills through collaboration with engineering, sales, project management, and field service teams. Occasional travel may be required to support customer meetings, pilot testing, system startups, and commissioning activities.
This is a full-time, salaried position based in the Syracuse, Rochester, or Buffalo region of New York.Recent engineering graduates are encouraged to apply.The role reports to the Engineering Manager.
Duties and Responsibilities
Evaluate customer applications for technical & economic feasibility
Perform system capability projections & process modeling
Onsite treatability bench and pilot testing
Estimate system costs and prepare proposals & quotes
Source and Quote spare parts & consumables
Technical position, with a strong sales aspect
Collaborate with engineering and technical service colleagues globally to ensure seamless project execution
Serve as key customer interface, ensuring timely communication & project clarity
Complete additional tasks as assigned
Qualifications
B.S. in Engineering or a physical Science, master’s degree preferred
Knowledge of water or wastewater treatment processes
Strong chemistry background (especially inorganic chemistry)
Very strong written and verbal communication skills
Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint proficient
Hands on mechanical and/or electrical skills
Database experience beneficial
CAD experience
Excellent interpersonal skills
Familiarity with Spanish or German is a plus
Travel Requirements
Occasional travel will be required domestically to visit our client sites.
ROCHEM®Americas covers travel expenses.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary: $65,000 -$75,000
